Willkie House Building Renovation
$170,064.27
of $700,000 goal
From its origin as an extension of the War Recreation Board for Black Officers at Fort Des Moines, to providing year-round programming for youth from low-income families today, the Willkie House has been serving the Des Moines community for over 100 years. This will be our first large-scale improvement project since the 1983 building expansion. We will make much-needed structural improvements to the facility, reinforcing the integrity of the building, renovating our 72-year-old gym, and updating or replacing key infrastructure. This work will breathe new life into our space and allow us to better and more safely serve our community.
