YSS Ember Recovery Campus

Project Description

One of Iowa's oldest and largest youth-serving nonprofit organizations, YSS's mission is to provide hope and opportunity by putting kids first. The vision of Ember Recovery Campus is to transform lives by bringing to life Iowa's first trauma-informed, nature-based behavioral health campus just 1.2 miles north of Polk County on a 53-acre parcel of land. The best-in-class facility will include retreat-style cabins with 70 youth beds, wellness and recreation areas, nature trails, and therapy spaces. Parents and partners such as Health and Human Services, Juvenile Court Services, and outpatient behavioral health providers will be able to refer youth in need of shelter, crisis stabilization, and residential addiction services. Youth at Ember Recovery will experience evidence-based care and improve their health and self-sufficiency in a safe, structured environment that incorporates the proven positive impact of nature.
